Stevens Family Update

It's been an extremely long time since I last blogged anything about our family. It feels like we're always on the go...never really having enough time to stop and enjoy much of anything. I think that is a part of having teenagers.

What's been up since Christmas?

Justin is 20 years old and still living on his own. He is working & went back to school. He is going to NIC (North Idaho College) and we as parents are thrilled for his rekindled interest in his education. He is still dating Elizabeth and recently cut his hair! (This was another way he pleased us as parents).

Kylie is 17 years old and a junior in high school. She has been dating this boy named Kellon for about a year or so. This is a relationship that is highly monitored by her father and me! :) She recently got her braces off and made the JV girls soccer team. She is still working at Pita Pit and doing well in school. She has a big school load this school year so we're making sure that she's doing the very best possible. We're starting to get her thinking about college and making some plans for her future. There was nothing more exciting for me to hear that she was interested in smaller colleges and universities in the Portland, Oregon area. We've talked a little about private Christian schools and she seems to be open to the idea. Even more recent for Kylie is that yesterday at soccer practice she broke her right ankle. So currently she is getting around on crutches and will be for about 4-6 weeks.

Chris is 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. He spent all summer on a select traveling baseball team that took him all over Washington, Idaho and Canada. It was a good experience for him but next summer he's going to have to try-out for a different team due to coaching issues. He spent the summer splitting time behind the plate as a catcher with 2 other boys. I went to most of his games & I really saw a big improvement in his foot work and glove work. Currently, he is playing football on the sophomore team and is playing linebacker. He's 100% more aggressive than last year and has even scored a touchdown already! He should do well in school but we did make sure that he was taking some tough classes. Our goal is to get him thinking about college this year as we prepare Kylie. They both will be taking their SAT's and ACT's this year, which will only give Chris a jumpstart for his junior year.

Rob & I are doing well. We're hoping that a baby is in our near future and we're currently seeing a doctor to help make this dream come true. Rob is working the day shift and I'm working the night shift. We just spent the last 6 months where we both were on the day shift and it was okay. We both agreed that we sleep much better when we don't have to share the bed with someone else! ;) We celebrated our 1st anniversity in August. We've been trying to stay in shape but have been nagged with injuries. I think that I get more bothered by not being able to workout than he does. But we try to go on walks in the evenings together if not for the exercise for the time to talk and enjoy each others company. This is something that is hard to come by when you have kids. I'm currently coaching the JV girls' soccer team at Lake City High School in all my spare time. It has been a blast and the girls are great!

That's a brief overview of our life. I will do my best to be a better blogger.

I hope that this finds you and yours well.
