Basketball Court Dedication
Right before the cold winter weather set in our basketball court was poured. It was a very special moment for our family because we dedicated the court to Rob's step-mother, Penny, who passed away a couple years ago. I, unfortunately, never had the opportunity to meet Penny but from what Rob, Bob and the kids have told me she was an amazing lady! She was a driven, focused, and successful woman who dearly loved her husband and family. It was Penny's desire for Rob to own his own home and, thus, in her passing she helped make that dream come true.
So when the basketball was poured our family decided that we were going to do something special to honor Penny's memory. We decided that everyone would put their hand print in upper corner of the court and in the palm of each hand a 2006 (the year the house was built) "Penny" was placed. Now everytime we walk through our front door or play basketball in our backyard we are reminded of Penny.

Mother Nature Says: SNOW
This morning I woke up with Mother Nature's answer: SNOW! I had to get up early and take Chris to school b/c Ky had an ortho appointment and much to my surprise it was snowing big time! Snow is fun if you don't have to drive in it and be out in for long periods of time. Hence my job, snow is not fun. Nevertheless, I took a sweet picture of our house to share with all of you our joyful snowy weather. (Rob will be happy when he gets home and sees my footprints in the driveway where I walked out to take this picture!)

Our Thoughts for Mother Nature
Nothing much has been going on up here in Northern Idaho. Halloween came and went. Ky & Chris went trick or treating without costumes & got a bunch of candy despite the fact. Football for Chris is finished and the high school varsity team is in the state semis. So our family Friday night football outings are just about over. Rob is excited that hockey has started & that the Ducks are winning (since the Steelers are almost not even worth watching this year). He keeps reminding me that the snow is going to be here soon! We have officially turned on the heat in our house & have put the electric blanket on our bed. We have been eating more soups & wearing more layers when we leave the house. I even went out and had new tires put on the Xterra so that I could stop before hitting something on icy/snowy roads.
But is winter really here? Last week is snowed. It did not stick for a long time but it snowed. This week is has rained and has not stopped. It has been raining here since last Thursday night. It has gone from pouring to misting for days & it is not letting up. Now the wind is adding to the miserableness of the rain! Wind makes wet weather 100% worse! Now the rain does not fall on you, it hits you & from all directions! With this rain has come some freaky warm weather. Last week it was cold enough to snow & now its 55+ degrees at night when I am at work! Our family is ready for winter to hit but will it?
This is all we ask from Mother Nature: Make up your mind!
