Chris' Football Update

Chris' football season is just about over. He has 2 more games; the next one being in Moses Lake this Friday. Rob & I are looking forward to the drive...all 131 miles of it! He is the starting safety on the freshman team and has really improved since last season. Sometimes he drives Rob & me insane because it looks like he's a bit nervous to just get in there and hit someone hard. I can't tell you how many times I've heard Rob tell him that if "HE" would hit someone first it won't hurt as bad as getting hit by someone else. Rob keeps telling him that playing on the defensive side of the football takes people who are alittle insane and who aren't afraid to hurt someone. My only reasoning to him is that it's his opportunity to physically assault someone without getting arrested for it so why not try to drive someone's head into the ground? Our hope is that he enjoyed the season and that he'll want to continue to play in the years to come. This is his second year of football and overall we're pleased with his improvement. Hopefully it will continue and one day he'll be starting on the varsity team! (Chris is #35 in the pictures).

Justin Turns 20!!!

Rob's Carrot Cake...yum it was SOOO good!
Justin got most of them blown out!!!
Monday October 9th was Justin's 20th birthday! Rob made him an awesome carrot cake that we all really enjoyed. He got some pretty neat stuff too! Elizabeth, his girlfriend, got him a Nintendo DS. If you're like me you probably don't have a clue what a Nintendo DS is but it really is a neat little video game. It's an entire video game system that fits in your pocket. I will probably end up playing it when he gets Tetris for it! Rob & I got him a new pair of shoes and an Adidas sweatshirt. I know...it's a parents gift and he really needed a new pair of shoes. It was a really good family time together and it seemed like Justin had a great birthday.

Lake City High School Homecoming

Ky & Chris went to Homecoming but they each chose to just go with their friends rather than take dates. This was perfectly AOK with Rob & me! They sure did look GREAT!

USC vs WSU Football Game

Last Saturday we went to the USC WSU Football in Pullman. This was the 1st college football game I had ever been to and it was tons of fun. Martin Stadium was a sell out crowd of 35,000 fans! We sat in the USC endzone with the rest of the USC fans...yes, we're USC fans. It was a very good game but Rob & I think that USC is a bit overrated this year. I couldn't believe just how big the players were and how little the field looked. When you watch it on TV it's the complete opposite the players look small and the field looks huge. As always Rob spent most of the game continuing to explain penalties to me. I am sure that by the end of Chris' football season and this college and NFL season I will finally have a complete understanding of the rules of football.

Did I mention that the Coug fans are absolutely annoying? Everytime the Cougs got a 1st down the entire stadium would yell, "That's another Cougar 1st down!" We came to the conclusion that the fans excitement over 1st downs must come from the fact that the Cougs getting one are few and far between. All the Cougs momentum really came to end when USC drove 99 yards for a touchdown early in the 4th quarter. This drive was sweet for us because it put us up close and personal with the teams.

The Trojans won the game and that is all that really matters. Rob & I got the family lost trying to find where the heck we parked our car. We walked a good mile or so out of our way because Rob thought he knew a short cut and I followed. This really turned out for the best because by the time we got back to the car most of the traffic had died down.

We have tickets to one more game this year: Boise St. vs Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. This should be another good time for the Stevens Family!

Our Family

Rob & I got married on August 5, 2006 in Post Falls, Idaho with many of our family members and friends present. We are now home in our new, beautiful home in Hayden, Idaho, a structure that Rob & I helped design from start to finish. I'm now a step-mother of 3 teenagers: Justin (19), Kylie (16) and Christopher (14), all of which live with Rob & me.

Our summer was busy. We spent 2 weeks in Southern California visiting Rob's sister and his mother while we were homeless. Yes, I said homeless. I sold my house in Spokane at the end of May and Rob sold his house in Coeur d'Alene at the beginning of July. Our new house in Hayden was done August 2, just in time for family and friends to start arriving for the wedding. (Rob & I learned a very valuable lesson from this: It's not wise to sell a house, build a house and plan a wedding all at the same time!) While in Southern California Chris had baseball camp at Cal State Fullerton for a week. He's a catcher and Rob & I really wanted him to go to a camp that would focus on his position and one that would prepare him for high school baseball. I think this camp was a good choice & Chris seemed to have a good time. We also went to back to back Anaheim Angels baseball games against the Indians. We're all huge Angels fans so this was an AWESOME time for each of us. We also spent a day at KnottsBerry Farm, which was more fun for Ky, Chris and me rather than Rob. Rob's not a big fan of rollercoasters. We drove home, yes drove, just in time to send Ky to NBC basketball camp at Whitworth College and to move into the new house and get married.

Rob & I went to Vancouver B.C. for our honeymoon to watch the play "Phantom of the Opera." We loved the play and we both want to see it again.

Ky & Chris are back to school, both now in high school. Ky is driving and working at Cold Stone Creamery to help pay for her car. Chris is playing football for the freshman team. He is the starting safety. Justin just got a full-time job at Verizon & is living with us for just a short time while he saves up to get his own apartment.

This is our family. More to come!
